Sixth Form (Year 13) public examinations results, 2017

Posted: 17th August 2017

As ever, we are very proud of the hard work and dedication of our students and teachers which have led to some outstanding results and great successes in achieving places at leading universities to study on highly competitive degree courses.

With Government reforms in sciences, Economics, English, History and Psychology and the School’s  temporary replacement of A level courses with IB certificates in the languages, Theatre Studies, Art, Music and Design, our results are not easily compared with previous outcomes. However, the headline figure is 79% A*-B overall, which includes results from both our A level and IB programmes (IB 7 equivalent to a grade A*; IB 6 equivalent to a grade A; and an IB 5 equivalent to a grade B).

It is highly rewarding that students have performed well across the range of subject areas which we offer at CCHS. The examples below show that our strengths cover all of the academic disciplines: Maths/Sciences, Languages, The Arts, English and the Humanities:

Mathematics – 100% A*-B in Further Maths. Indeed, all students achieved either A* or A in this subject. Overall, in Further Maths and Mathematics, 83% of students achieved A*-B grades.

  • Languages – 100% A*-B in German, with all students achieving A*-A grades.
  • Art – 100% A*-B, with all students achieving A* or A grades.
  • English – 93% A*-B, with 65% of students achieving A* or A grades.
  • Geography – 92% A*-B, with 68% of students achieving A* or A grades.

Congratulations to all of our students and members of staff. Our students enjoy an excellent education from Year 7 all the way through to the Sixth Form and we wish our Year 13 students all the very best for the future

In addition, we are particularly delighted with the successes in our two newly introduced AS courses, namely Government & Politics and EPQ with 83% and 80% A/B respectively.
