Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

CCHS is pleased to work together with Adventure Expeditions to facilitate students’ participation in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. CCHS supports Year 9 students as they work towards their Bronze Award and then students are able to work independently or in small groups with Adventure Expeditions in pursuit of their Silver and Gold Awards; the school continues to offer guidance to these students.

Participation in any level of Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme helps students to develop skills and confidence and to show their commitment to working with others and working to support those less fortunate. Developing self-confidence and self-reliance is a key aim of the scheme and the outdoor learning and expedition elements of the awards give many students their first opportunity to challenge themselves in the outdoors. We have been very pleased with the high levels of engagement in the scheme from our Year 9 students and look forward to working with future cohorts.
