Chelmsford County High School for Girls is one of the most successful girls’ selective schools in the country.  This is, therefore, an ideal opportunity for a well-qualified teacher of Music to gain experience teaching some of the most motivated and able students in the country, who are extremely talented and involved in a vast number of musical ensembles, concerts, productions and other opportunities.

We are looking to appoint a Director of Music who will have the skills to enhance the School’s outstanding reputation and to enthuse our engaging students, there is also the opportunity to combine the role with that of Faculty Leader.

The Creative Arts Faculty includes Arts and PE, and has been awarded Artsmark Gold and is working towards Platinum.

The successful applicant will be a dynamic, talented musician and outstanding classroom practitioner, will display excellent musicianship, having at least grade 8 in a principal field of performance and being at least a competent pianist.  The ability to conduct both vocal and orchestral ensembles to a high standard and to oversee the school’s outstanding extra-curricular musical programme is essential.

We would welcome applicants with varying levels of experience who can bring skills in classical music, composition, ensemble leadership to reinforce and further develop the subject.

The Music Centre is a modern custom built facility with two spacious classrooms, a number of practice cells, an office and an open plan performance space.  Each classroom hosts a suite of computers which are installed with Cubase and Sibelius.
