Subjects
Religious Studies
Religious education makes a distinctive contribution to the school curriculum. It develops students' knowledge and understanding of different religions, beliefs, practices and traditions, as well as their influence on individuals, communities, societies and cultures. It enables students to consider and respond to a range of important questions related to their own spiritual development, as well as help develop their own values, views and philosophy about life and the society in which we live.
GCSE
The OCR syllabus is the basis for the GCSE Religious Studies course. It focuses on two main areas of study: Social and moral issues from a Christian Perspective and an in-depth analysis of the history and practice of Judaism.
Sixth Form
At both AS and A level, you will study the same two units - Philosophy of Religion and Ethics. Philosophical themes will include concepts of proof, arguments for and against the existence of God, the problem of evil, miracles and life after death. In Ethics students will study ethical concepts such as religion & morality and link them to a variety of ethical dilemmas such as war and pacifism.
