The Scope of PSHE

(Personal, Spiritual, Cultural, Social, Health, Moral & Ethical Education)

PSHE unites the Lifeskills and Keyskills essential to a balanced curriculum. It encompasses work on values, personal codes and health while addressing the concerns of students' growing independence and responsibilities.

PSHE aims to make students confident, self-aware and tolerant. Students should be willing to play an active part in society and be prepared to help others.

Core sections of the course provide Religious Education and Careers following statutory National Curriculum guidelines.

Topics to reflect the emphasis on Citizenship studies and PSHE include:

  • Alcohol Use and Abuse
  • Budgeting and Finance
  • Environmental Issues
  • First Aid
  • Government and the Law
  • Personal Responsibility
  • Pre-driving Skills

Methods of learning include discussion, video viewing, debate, presentation, role play and written work.

Whilst no regular homework is set, pupils are expected to provide research material when required and maintain notes and reviews of work in their personal evaluation files.
