The Art and Design Department is on the second floor above the library. Its two rooms and landing give a separate feel to the area which makes it individual to the school as a whole. All years are taught art in these rooms, as well as graphics in one of the technology rooms.

The Department has strong links with Technology and at present involvement is in the area of graphics and clay constructions. It also has strong links with Drama and helps in the stage set designs for school plays.

We have run workshops during lunchtimes, after school and at weekends to reach deadlines. In recent years, the Department has organised a Caribbean Day and North American Native Indian day, which has involved music, drama, geography, and art and design. We have also been involved in the Africa day and India day, organising carving, clay and Batik workshops, as well as hand painting.

GCSE

Art and Design GCSE is a lively, challenging course which builds on Key Stage 3 work to tackle a broad range of skills.
