Welcome!

Our School is very enthusiastic about maintaining links with former pupils and keeping them in touch with each other. Here are a few of the many pictures taken at the Second Centenary Reunion 2007. It was a great success. The new Head, Nicole Chapman, gave an address on video, as she had a prior engagement. Lara Griffen's playing on the piano added greatly to the friendly and intimate atmosphere.

We have members who remember school before ANY additions, or when Bancroft and the dining hall were "new", while our latest members won't officially become old girls until they leave school at the end of the sixth form! If you haven't already, please join us by completing the application form. You will find the link above.

Please don't be put off by our name, OGS has more than a thousand members of all ages and from all walks of life. Life membership costs just £10.00 and covers two annual newsletters each year, with full details of our annual events, happenings at school and news of other members.

We hope these web pages will help our efforts to keep up to date with past pupils. We help hundreds each year to keep in touch, sometimes helping people track down friends they haven't seen for years, or even decades. Our database holds details of when students were at school and we also encourage people to list their interests at home or in work. We want members to be able to tap into a wealth of useful information we know exists.

Our key role is in putting past pupils together. The newsletters always provoke plenty of letters and enquiries, one way or another they're the starting point for a good old gossip. We've helped many people organise reunions for their year groups and hope to do more in the future.

Of course we have our own general reunion once a year at school. Current sixth formers give school tours, Head Teacher Nicole Chapman gets us up to date on school news and we enjoy a buffet supper with music from students. Believe it or not, the talking never stops. In December we welcome all to "Come Back for Christmas". Lots of past pupils come together to play or sing under the expert guidance of former teachers from the school, while many others, with families and friends make up the audience. Singing carols, eating mince pies and drinking mulled wine...what better start to Christmas!

We also want to encourage women to "network" more. We know many of our male counterparts at KEGS over the road maintain close links with their school and former schoolmates for all sorts of reasons personal and professional. These web pages and our database should help people to renew friendships and make new ones, as well as provide valuable work contacts, and the chance to investigate different job opportunities or career paths.

We continue to have a close relationship with today's school community, with members invited to enjoy music, dance and drama performances, or attend events like commemoration service and PTA social evenings. Some old girls help current pupils with careers advice, work experience or by sharing their experiences in work, university, just life!
