Athletics
Lottie Malton went on to represent Essex at the National Combined Events Championship in Derby September 2006. The Junior Girls team went on to win the Championship Pentathlon.
Hockey
THREE hockey players from Chelmsford County High School are on the road to international honours this season. Helen Fagg, 17, Helena Roberts, 15, and Rebecca McGuiness, 16 attended England Hockey Trials at Bisham Abbey this month. The trio are all members of Chelmsford Hockey Club and attend the Broomfield Road School. Goalkeeper Helen, who hails from Chelmsford and Rebecca, from Stebbing, impressed enough to be selected for the England under-18's training squad and earn themselves a place at a session in January in Beeston where the final team for the international game against Ireland in February will be selected. Helena Roberts from Ongar has been picked as a non-travelling reserve for the under-16's team.
The school is enjoying a successful year in hockey, the under 16 team won the Mid Essex School Sports Association Championship as did the under 14 squad. The under 14's were also runners up in the Essex County Championship.
Head of Physical Education Sarah Bellamy said "The girls are all very talented. They work extremely hard for the school, and now for their country. To have three students in the England training squad is fantastic. We are al very proud of them and wish them every success in their future games."
Netball
A CHELMSFORD County High School student has been selected to be part of the England under-19 netball squad.
Chantelle Hankin, 17, from Chelmsford County High School for Girls has been selected for her country and is set to play in Cardiff in March with matches against Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Gibralter.
The Year 12 student began playing netball in primary school and has been part of the Robins Netball Club, which is based in Basildon, since September 2006.
Sarah Bellamy, Head of PE at Chelmsford County High School said: "I am very pleased for Chantelle. She is an enthusiastic and hardworking person and thoroughly deserves her success.
"Chelmsford County High School is renowned for its academic success, but we are continually striving for success in all areas and encourage our students to participate in sport at every opportunity."
X-Country
A selection of girls represented Mid Essex in the Essex Championships at Gloucester Park, Basildon on 20th January 2007. The Mid Essex went on to win the Junior Girls and came second in the Inter and Senior Girls Competitions.
Swimming
SWIMMERS at Chelmsford County High School are celebrating after they won the overall championship at the mid-Essex Secondary Schools Sport Association (MESSA) swimming gala.
Thirty six swimmers from the school took part against schools from Brentwood and Chelmsford. The competition took place at the William De Ferrers School and the Brentwood School.
The Broomfield Road school won the Overall Championship and the Year 12 and Year 13 competition in a tight contest with the William De Ferrers school which they won by only a hands length.
Sarah Bellamy, Head of PE at Chelmsford County High School said "It was an enjoyable and exciting tournament and I am very proud of all the girls that took part. We have girls competing at all levels in sport and it is pleasing to achieve such excellent results when we are renowned for our academic results rather than our sports."
Football
Our Football team came second in the Colchester Community Cup Competition following a fluke goal by the opposition as Chelmsford had most of the play.
