1907 Day

Centenary

Tuesday the 24th April 2007 was a rather special day at CCHS.

We celebrated our centenary year by dressing in 1907-style clothing - YES !! - no uniforms, no modern clothes but long full skirts and leg-of-mutton sleeved blouses.

All students and staff were in the 1907 mood by wearing the type of clothing that would have been familiar to the first students way back then.

The younger girls (equivalent to our Years 7 and 8) wore a gathered cotton or wool skirt in a plain material that came down to just below the knee with a plain blouse buttoned to the neck with a collar and long sleeves. They would probably have worn an apron or pinafore to school with ankle boots or stout shoes. The older girls (our Years 9 & 10) would have worn mid-calf length skirts while "Young Ladies" (that's you Years 11, 12 and 13!) would have worn ankle length skirts more like the adults.

The 24th April 2007 was a fun day with lessons themed on 1907 and special events taking place throughout the day. We had a whole school photograph taken of us in our costumes in sepia and of course all the girls and staff entered into the spirit of the day with gusto.

Credit must go to our catering staff who produced a wonderful array of food of that era and not an "E" number in sight!

Also, photos were taken of "Old Girls" with their current student daughters together with a vintage car driven by the owner.

The day was finished off with a Fashion Show throughout the decades which was a tremendous success.
