Be a part of our history. Chelmsford County High School was founded in the heart of the Edwardian age. It was 1907, Chelmsford was a sleepy but rapidly expanding rural town, and the clatter of horses still echoed down the Broomfield Road past the school windows.

Today, the County High is one of Britain's foremost state grammars, at the cutting edge of every academic discipline and consistently in the top echelon in all national exam league tables.

Throughout those kaleidoscopic 100 years of success and achievement, certain factors have remained constant: the brilliance and inspiration of the teaching staff, and the shining enthusiasm and dedication of the students. The County High's centenary is a chance for all of us to celebrate what can be achieved by teachers who believe in their students, and girls who are taught to believe in themselves.

The Centenary Year has been marked by a series of wonderful events, including a variety of speakers from the world of Commerce, Government and Journalism; The Grand Ball held at King's in Cambridge in March; Musical food and wine evening; 1907 Day and Fashion Show through the decades; Commemoration Day; Centenary Quiz and memorabilia merchandise. Chelmsford County High School also hosted the BBC Radio 4 current affairs programme, 'Any Questions?' in September 2007 chaired by Jonathan Dimbleby.
