With the completion of the Music Centre in January 2008 our attentions are focussed on a new Modern Foreign Languages Centre and a much needed Sports Complex.
The Modern Foreign Languages Centre will replace the existing Bancroft building. This will in turn make space for a Sports Complex with extra science rooms located above. This will benefit students and the wider community in the provision of language teaching; the funding target is £2.8 million.
School building grants have been halted by the Government and the school is therefore now seeking alternative sources of funding to provide the facilities that the girls deserve.
The goal is to fund a new three storey Languages Centre to provide the students with up-to-date facilities and a much improved learning environment. It will be an extension to the main school building which will have the added benefit of giving full disabled access to the first floor which is not available at present. The Centre will be available for the local community to use at the end of the school day, weekends and during holiday periods
The school currently has Specialist Language College status and plans to capitalise on its prominent position in the national league tables and become a flagship centre for the teaching and learning of languages in the future.
Planning permission has been granted.
